Volume – We will be able to accommodate more disabled adults in the right environment for them to be able to relax and thrive knowing that they are safe and cared for.

It is extremely hard for parents and family members to cope with adults with disabilities. The care gets more complex as they grow older. Families experience what is known as “carer breakdown” looking after their disabled family members. When beds are not available, the disabled person can quite often find themselves placed in inappropriate care homes, e.g.: for the elderly. Having the choice of more available bedrooms will enable more people to be looked after appropriately.

Respite – We would be able to offer respite beds for breaks.

Families need a break from looking after their disabled family members whether it’s their children or siblings.

Quite often a short break is all that is needed to enable the “carer” to recharge. Having their loved ones looked after for a respite period is all that is needed.

A home for life.

TWC provide a home for life for those in need. We have the benefit of a GP practice in the grounds, we also benefit from an excellent district nurse team. This means that, if necessary, we can offer palliative care. A home for life at TWC means life.

Rehabilitation

Once a person has got over the initial effects of a stroke, they are no longer a viable candidate for a hospital bed. They do however need the care to regain as much of their independence as possible. Having a stroke rehabilitation wing TWC would be able to fill that gap between hospital and home.

We will offer beds, care, and on-site physiotherapists to work with patients to regain as much mobility as possible. The positive outcome, not only for the person and their families but also for the community easing hospital bed blocking.

Our aim, to get them back to living independently in their own homes.

Physiotherapy

The existing activities centre will be refurbished and will become a larger Physio centre. The physio centre will be open to the community giving a much better space with more equipment for rehabilitation.
